Employee Spotlight: Jessica Marsh

Name:

Jessica Marsh

Began working at Blessings International:

October 2018

Role:

I am the administrative assistant/receptionist, part of the customer service team, and Blessings’ party planner.

If you had to compare yourself to a TV-show character, who would you be, and why?

I think I most relate to Pam from The Office. Of course, like her, I am a receptionist. Pam is warm, compassionate, has a good sense of humor, and is a people-pleaser. She likes to work behind the scenes, but when she is very passionate about something, she is not afraid to speak up.

Describe the part you play at Blessings:

My job is complex in that I do various things to help and support my coworkers. I am typically the first voice you will hear when calling Blessings. You also may recognize my name because I process through the feedback forms we receive. I get to interact with customers by troubleshooting any questions they have. I also get to process orders for account holders whose names run from letters I through Q.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?

At Blessings, one of our core values is celebrating each other’s successes. One of the ways we do that is by having a birthday party to celebrate everyone’s birthdays. Part of my job is getting to plan the parties. I really enjoy getting to celebrate my fellow employees and friends. I love baking and cooking for others and so it’s really fun making the birthday treats for everyone to enjoy!

Where have you served in a missional capacity?

I have served in Honduras five times, inter-city Houston three times, and four times in New Zealand.

Where/How would you like to serve in the future?

I would love to go back to Central America again. The people are so warm and eager to learn more about God. I also would love to go back to New Zealand and further some relationships I have gotten to make during my time there. I have such a big heart for mission work and really would love to someday do it full time.

What was your last staff devotional about?

My last devotion came from Bob Goff’s book, Live in Grace, Walk in Love. It was about how important it is to not just trust God in some aspects of our lives but to trust him fully and completely.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

What is your best memory here at Blessings?

On the day before Thanksgiving, all the employees at Blessings get together and go to lunch and come back to sign Christmas cards and watch a Christmas movie. I look forward to this every year. Another great memory is when Blessings threw me a wedding shower after I had only been here three months. I was so surprised and felt so supported and loved.

On a mission trip in Honduras.

As the party planner, Jessica helps us celebrate every birthday.
